For the past 6 weeks i’ve been glued to the telly and YouTube following the progress of Britain’s Got Talent. Although I hadn’t been interested in the past 2 series, I watched the first episode and was amazed by Flawless, Stavros Flatly and Susan Boyle which got me hooked until the final. The producers of the show definitely got that right for getting viewers hooked to the show.

I’ve been a massive bettor on reality tv and made over £1500 betting on Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother last year. I was looking forward to making some more bets on Britain’s Got Talent this year to make some more £££. I absolutely crushed my betting roll after Cheltenham so I had to deposit £500 back into Betfair.

In the 2nd semi final, I was a big fan of Stavros Flatly so I just had to bet on them to qualify as I knew they’d be atleast in the top 2 and the judges would defo put them through. The young lad Shaheen was odds on fav to be group winner but looking at the youtube views, Stavros had a few million more views so decided they had to win the group and the 7/2 odds were just juicy so lumped on and shipped myself £600.

The following semi final on Thursday featured Julian Smith the saxophonist as the odds on fav to win group so had a small bet on him to win as couldn’t see anyone beating him. However my big bet was on the young stage school youngster Callum Francis to not qualify so layed £100 on him which shipped me another good win and be up £700.

The next semi final featured young dancer Aidan Davis who was odds on fav to win group with competitors including Hollie Steel and Greg Pritchard. There was simply no way Aidan could lose this so stuck £500 on Aidan to win at 1.4 which would cover my other big bet to lay Hollie at 1.8 with a £200 stake. However something went drastically wrong when she started crying and was given another chance to sing which somehow obviously won over the voters and eventually cost me £40 so good job I had the Aidan cover bet.

Then came my final and I was betting out of all the profit made in hopes for a massive scoop in typical gamblers style. First of all I wacked £400 straight on Susan Boyle at 2.1 which was brilliant odds and thought she could never get beat. There was a betting w/o Susan market opened up so had to back my favs Flawless and also Aidan at good odds. Then Diversity came on and the odds plummeted for them and the odds for Flawless went throught the roof as did Aidan’s. So as the odds kept rising I kept placing sneaky bets on them both so in the end I could have won £5k if Flawless won.

At the end it worked out that I would win a small amount if Susan Boyle won, ship loads if Flawless or Aidan won but lose £60 for the series if Diversity or Stavros Flatly won (or anyone else for that matter) so all was looking good and seemed to have every corner covered. Of course since I never backed Diversity before they performed so was never getting any decent odds to back them as my stake would have to be quite high to make it worth it so had to leave my bets as they were.

Of course Diversity ended up winning and I lost all my profits from the semi finals. Like any gambler it’s a case of why the hell didn’t I back them early on at like 20/1. The gamble gave me a great buzz and adds to the excitement of watching so if Flawless actually won i’d be one very happy man and you’d be seeing a very sick brag post. I’m glad Susan Boyle didn’t win as she could never hold the stardom and just had zero star quality like the others in the competition. I don’t like judging people but she is a bit weird. She became a victim of her own media publicity and lost a lot of fans through some very bad publicity during the semi finals.

Well done to Diversity the very well deserved winners and I can see them becoming massive and will start a new breed of dance groups.

I just wanted to make a brag post about a nice bet that just came in on Big Brother eventhough I’ve never watched a single episode of the current Celebrity Big Brother. In the main series last year I also made a nice score mainly backing Rachel for top 4 and then getting her the winner at 16/1. This was thanks to some reliable polls and forums so was looking forward to seeing how they compared in the celebrity version.

Well i’d never even watched the show but the polls and forums were continuously telling me that Verne was not popular and probably wouldn’t get enough to win. I was so surprised that he was odds on to win so early in the series so I was dying to lay this bet. I’d backed LaToya early doors as thought she was good outsider value and also backed her to be top female but this failed and was starting to have doubts. I put more money on Terry to win and also Ulrika at a later stage and a tiny bit on Coolio so money was quite spread out.

Then at final 5 stage 1.5 odds for Verne to win was just amazing value to lay so tried to get on but couldn’t get matched and had to settle for 1.58. I had a sneaky peak at the top 3 odds and saw that Verne was lingering at 1.08 but there was little money in the market so was hard to get a bet at the stakes I wanted to play. Yes laying at 1.08 will give you a massive return for a tiny bet so I just couldn’t resist this bet and eventually got 1.07 matched. It cudda been so much more but I cancelled half of the stake and didn’t want to be too greedy, after all the odds are that for a reason aren’t they? I was calmly happy to see that he exited in 4th place as predicted.

This more than recouperates my losses from x factor and adds to my wins from the original Big brother.
