This weekend there will be a £75 Freezeout at Circus Casino Newcastle this weekend with potential for £500 to be added to the prize pool. Once again, Circus have given players what they wanted with an affordable buy in with a structure that can last a full day and not go late into the morning not forgetting adding value to the tournament.
I was approached by the cardroom staff about suggestions for a 1 day deep stack structure and offered 2 suggestions for a 10-12 hour tournament based on 100 runners which I really think this is achieveable. My first suggestion was to go for a 10,000 starting stack with a 30 minute clock. This was to go inline with their current successful £50 Monthly tournament which has 25 minute blinds and a 9,000 starting stack so the above structure would go inline with the slightly larger buy in. Players love chips and get a bit excited when they see 10,000.
I strongly suggested that they go for a 7,500 starting stack with a 40 minute clock as this would provide a longer tournament with players exiting more evenly than with the larger stack and shorter blinds. Of course I had already trialled a very similar structure at the NPF Team Event and this proved to be excellent eventhough some people had gripes about only getting 7,500 chips. Circus agreed with my 2nd suggestion and the tournament was organised and began advertising.
The details:

This is an excellent tournament and hope the first one gets a good turnout so it can be a recurring event. Unfortunately I won’t be playing it as i’m playing the Sky Poker UK Tour Grand Final next week.
