Diana Vickers out of The X Factor…Sad

in General

I was playing in the Circus team event this weekend playing for teamdobbs so a little bit disappointed to miss The X Factor this weekend as it’s down to the last 4.  Had a pre flop £30 stab on Eoghan at 6/1 to be booted but that only added to my losses throughout the series.  Just watched her videos and she was amazing and still think she shudda been in in final two with Alexandra.  I had £70 on Diana to win at avg odds of 5.46 and was relying on her to win just to keep me in profit.  If Alexandra doesn’t win then i’m gonna be down £360 or down £200 if she does so that’s a bit of a kick on the bollocks as it’s not ideal to put any further bets with 3 left.  I’m playing from Big Brother profits so not such a big deal and couldn’t give a fuck bout the money I just wanted Diana to win.

Back to the Poker at the weekend.  Had a decent table and felt confident about getting through to the next round so just had to play my hands and pick my moments.  Got KK and AJh with a sexy flop early doors so was up to 6k and after that struggled to pick up much else.  Limped the small blind with TT and button limper, called the BBs raise and missed the J high flop with the BB betting out pot and forced to fold with him showing AJ.  Dunno why I play this weakly but I guess it wudda been same outcome if I had raised pre as I normally would have done.  This put me back down to 5k before the break.  I was annoyed at myself for not picking up chips from the player on my right who was limping a lot of pots in late position and folding to raises but didn’t have the bottle to do it with utter shite.

After the break was mostly a blur and hardly played any hands as the blnds were up and creeping down to 10bbs and was tough to play anything.  Survived one all in with push from button, picking up blinds and a  few more laps i’m short again picking up no cards, then a 4bb shove utg 5 handed with K2o then isolated by Garry Wilson with AQ which held.

Off to the rail and tbh I had a lot more fun on the rail as there was so much mint crack it was good just watching from a distance as everyone was in team spirit and having a good time knocking down the beers.  Eventually, it was down to a final 4 at 5am and there was gonna be a chip count to decide winner which added a lot of tension amongst the teams as the Jolly Roger could tie the event with teamtubbs if they came first and second.  Last hand of the level and the chips were close between Slick Mick from Punters Lounge B and Carl from Jolly Roger so it ended up a situation where Carl would have to call Mick’s all in to have a chance at tying the team event and taking down the individual prize.  So it was A3d versus Carl’s KJ and a 9 on the river gave him the straight (it looked like teamtubbs thought they had won) so that gave the Jolly Roger the tie and a very epic final hand.

All in all it was a good event despite starting nearly an hour later and making for a very late finish.  A few dodgy unsportsmanship style happenings but that should be expected for the competitive nature of team events.  I personally wudda made the first round only 3000 starting chips, scrapped round 2 and made the final a standard 30 player MTT.  Also, awarding Jolly Roger the overall winner as they had the highest ranked individuals.  Team events are obviously an easy way to fill a cardroom and get people drinking but I hope casinos don’t overdo them by doing too many as it would just totally spoil that hype that leads up to them.

Now i’m gonna watch Diana sing an excellent cover of Dido’s White Flag again.
