Got My Virgin Festival Seat

Newcastle 4th April 2009 Last night I thought i’d give the weekly €15 Virgin Festival satellite a go although I had been playing the mid week rebuys as they seemed easier.  I also had an e-mail from Will Hill that the Super Series was only £12.50 this week with the same £2500 added so couldn’t miss the value and entered that as well at 6pm.

Played a solid game throughout on Virgin and got into some tough situations where I really had to lay hands down as a satellite and could find better opportunities.  Got to the final table and most of the chips were very even and the blinds had got to where it was pretty much push or fold for everyone.  Was 7 handed for ages with 5 seats and I played a good survival game and not being lowest stack with some easy stealable blinds on my left, and having to fold hands like TT and AK which cost me a seat the last time.  Then it got down to 6 left and I’m just about lowest stack and folded round to me in sb with A10c, I ship it and called with KJ, shut me eyes and it amazingly holds to pretty fuck his stack and the seat is mine, weeeeeeeeee. Cost me €60 + fees in total so canny good with no travel costs.

Meanwhile, I had built a nice stack after flopping aces full of kings and getting paid from a turned straight.  Never played a hand after that and dwindled down to 10bbs as I was concetrating on the Virgin sat.  Then just as the hand above was happening, I see a limped pot and have A9 in the bb and ship it in and get called by A10 so erm I was out just before the bubble.

Well that was 4 final tables in a row with 2 wins so I dunno if it’s a run of form but hope it keeps up and I can get a big score.

great result – played solid game throughout it seemed although the 66 call was maybe your wake up and were certainly due some hands standing up

funny how things turn out, maybe if I don’t call there I cudda got into a hand because of my stack and then busted! So swings nd rundabouts but do understand why it was bad afterwards. Think I learned a lot more there and how I wudda played some hands different i.e. folding and when to push.

Only just discovered your blog Scott. N1 and nice result. Was chatting to yr old man during the FT and he was relaying the pushes/folds – IMO you played it perfectly.
