Won a main event seat for the Liverpool Winter Festival

in General

I’ve already had a canny start to 2009 and last night I managed to bag myself a main event seat into the Liverpool Winter Festival for £550.  This will be my first real main event i’ve played in so looking forward to gaining some experience and probably see some big surprises playing against crazy scandinavians that are coming over for this festival.

There were a disappointing 16 runners so just enough for 1 seat and we were down to the final table at only the 100/200 level because of loose play and big hands running into each other.  Won’t write much about the game but I kept very tight early on as there was plenty of loose play early on and had just above starting onto final table which was one of the short stacks at 25bbs haha.  Players exited early and didn’t really have to play a hand until 6 handed and picked up some nice hands that I played well and got myself well paid.  By 4 handed I had about half the chips in play and was very comfortable then eventually got to a pride at stake father vs Son heads up.  This was the third time we have got heads up together, once in Nottingham where he won, once in the NPF PokerStars game where I won and then in this satellite where I won again.  It does seem a little weird that the two games that we have organised and we both got heads up.  So it’s either completely rigged or we’re the best 2 players on NPF haha.  Anyway, I kept the chip lead throughout and after about an hour it ended up my AK vs A6.

This is another addition to my good start in 2009 and hope it continues as i’m feeling some good confidence in my game and now i’ve got the chance to take a big score in a good live tournament.

We’re both gonna play the main event and will be representing NPF in the 3 man team competition, who is gonna be the third?
